An advantage of purchasing a photographic print mounted this way is that the print surface is exposed rather than situated behind glass. For this option I present the photography on fine art paper rather than on traditional photographic paper. Fine art photographic paper is designed specifically for giclee (inkjet) photographic printing. Because this paper is derived from conventional artists paper It has a texture that has a more natural and attractive surface when viewed directly. I provide Hahnemuhle photo rag, which is fine art photographic paper created for digital photographic inkjet printing. It has a matte finish, and a matte sealant. The matte sealant allows the print to be cleaned more easily and provides an extra layer of UV protection. The matte sealant very slightly dulls darker colours and blacks in the photograph, however the dulling effect is very slight and I think the benefits are worthwhile. |
MDF Block mounted prints.
Block mounting to 12mm MDF can create simple and effective displays. The artwork consists of a fine art paper inkjet (giclee) print on matte finished paper. The image surface is then sealed with a non reflective coating which protects the print surface and adds UV protection. The print is then bonded to a 12mm MDF block The edges are painted either black or white and are most commonly hung with 9mm battens making it appear to float from the wall. The mount is signed and - where appropriate - numbered. The artwork is signed and numbered on stickers attatched permanently to the back of the mount. Signed Certificate provided, which contains edition information plus a description about the photograph All MDF block mounted prints are made to order. |
